What our move-in / move-out cleaning covers

An empty unit gets cleaned differently than a lived-in one. There is no furniture to work around, every surface is exposed, and the standard is simple: it has to look move-in ready, inside and out. We clean the spots a regular cleaning skips because someone lives there. Inside the cabinets and drawers, behind and inside the appliances, the insides of windows, the walls and switchplates. This is the turn-ready checklist every property manager and home seller expects, and the one most tenants get dinged on at the final walkthrough.

Kitchens: inside every cabinet and drawer, inside the oven, fridge, and freezer, the range hood, stovetop, backsplash, countertops, and sink. We pull appliances out where they move so the floor and walls behind them get cleaned too.

Bathrooms: tub, shower, tile, and grout scrubbed, toilet cleaned inside and out, vanity, mirror, inside the medicine cabinet, and hard-water buildup on glass and fixtures cut back. This is where most move-out inspections fail, so this is where we slow down.

Floors, walls, and switchplates: floors vacuumed and mopped through every room and closet, baseboards wiped by hand, walls spot-cleaned for scuffs, and switchplates, outlet covers, door frames, and handles wiped down.

Windows and details: inside of windows, sills, and tracks, light fixtures and ceiling fans dusted, vents wiped, and closet shelving cleaned out. By the time we leave, the unit photographs clean for a listing or a deposit dispute.

Our 4-step process

A free on-site walkthrough first, then a one-page priority plan, the turn clean against a move-in-ready checklist, and a final check before handoff. Photo sign-off available when you cannot be there.

  1. Free walkthrough and scope — we walk the unit and confirm what move-in ready means for your situation. A tenant chasing a full deposit has a different checklist than a landlord turning a unit. We ask the move date, who has keys, whether power and water are on, and what the lease or inspection requires. No fee, no obligation.
  2. Priority list and transparent quote — we write the scope into a one-page plan so you see what is included before anything starts. On a fixed budget, we set a priority list so kitchens and bathrooms get done first, because that is what gets inspected hardest.
  3. The turn clean — the crew works the unit top to bottom against the checklist. A small apartment finishes in a few hours, a larger home runs longer. When you cannot be on-site, we send before-and-after photos so you can sign off remotely.
  4. Final check and handoff — we walk the finished unit against the same checklist we scoped. If something needs a second pass, we handle it same-visit, then you move in or hand clean keys to a landlord, buyer, or next tenant.

What affects the cost of a move-in / move-out cleaning

Every move clean in Rhode Island quotes custom to the unit. Where yours lands depends on three things.

Three factors that shape every quote

Bigger and dirtier units take more work. The full turn-ready checklist is more thorough than a surface pass. And most move cleans are time-sensitive, tied to a closing or lease date.

  1. Size and condition of the unit — a one-bedroom apartment and a four-bedroom house do not price the same, and a unit left in decent shape cleans faster than one with heavy kitchen grease, hard-water buildup, or post-tenant grime in every room.
  2. Scope of the checklist — a full move-out clean with inside-cabinet, inside-appliance, and inside-window work is more work than a standard cleaning, so we scope exactly what your lease or inspection requires.
  3. Timeline — we schedule around closing dates, lease ends, and tenant turnovers, and accommodate short notice when our calendar allows.

Garrett, Ceann and their team were great to work with. We scheduled a deep clean prior to moving into our new house. I appreciated the transparent process of starting with a budget, then giving a priority list of our expectations to be covered during the budgeted amount of time. We weren't in the area when they came but they sent pictures of the work done which was appreciated. Everything we requested was able to be completed and the house was very clean on move in day, and smelled fresh with no overwhelming cleaning agent smells. I plan to use this company again for periodic cleaning!

Michelle Breda · Move-in deep clean, new home purchase

The team at North Kingstown Cleaning Services did a wonderful job cleaning our house following our move-out. The team was responsive to my calls and emails while providing several options for scheduling. The cleaner arrived on time and went above and beyond. Highly recommend this company for a one time or routine cleaning service!

Kate Shay · Move-out cleaning, Newport RI

Maria and her team did an excellent job preparing a rental unit for its new residents. The apartment looked great and the tenants appreciated moving into a professionally cleaned apartment.

FAQs

What is included in a move-out cleaning?

A move-out cleaning covers the full unit with no furniture in the way: inside cabinets and drawers, inside the oven, fridge, and freezer, bathrooms scrubbed top to bottom, floors vacuumed and mopped, baseboards and walls wiped, inside windows and sills, switchplates, light fixtures, and vents. It is more thorough than a standard cleaning because it has to pass a final inspection or get a unit listing-ready.

Does a professional move-out cleaning help me get my deposit back?

It helps. Most security-deposit disputes come down to the kitchen, the bathrooms, and the condition the unit is left in. A documented, professional clean against a turn-ready checklist removes the easy reasons a landlord withholds money. We can send before-and-after photos so you have proof of the condition you left.

How long does a move-in or move-out cleaning take?

A small apartment often finishes in a few hours. A larger home runs longer, and bigger jobs may get a two-person crew to stay on schedule. Move cleans are efficient because the space is empty. The walkthrough produces an accurate time estimate for your specific unit.

Can you clean on short notice for a closing or lease date?

Yes. Most move cleans are time-sensitive, tied to a closing, a lease end, or a tenant turnover. We schedule around those dates and accommodate short-notice bookings when our calendar allows. Several of our customers have booked a move clean on two or three days' notice.

Should I schedule the cleaning before or after I move out?

After. A move-out clean works best once the unit is empty, so every surface is exposed and nothing has to be cleaned around. For a move-in, schedule the clean before your furniture is delivered so the cleaners can reach floors, closets, and inside cabinets. We coordinate the timing with your movers either way.

Do you clean inside appliances, cabinets, and windows?

Yes. Inside the oven, fridge, and freezer, inside every cabinet and drawer, and the insides of windows are part of the standard move clean. These are exactly the areas a regular cleaning skips and a final inspection checks.

I'm a landlord turning a unit. Can you handle the turnover between tenants?

Yes. Unit turnovers are a core part of what we do. We clean the unit to a move-in-ready standard for your next tenant, work fast to keep vacancy short, and can coordinate around your turnover schedule. Property managers running multiple units get a named lead and a consistent checklist on every turn.

How much does a move-out cleaning cost in Rhode Island?

Move cleans are quoted custom per unit. Pricing depends on the size and condition of the unit, the scope of the checklist your lease or inspection requires, and the timeline. Call 401-402-0110 for a free walkthrough and a no-obligation quote. We never quote a number without seeing the unit first.
